Uche Sparks Straightforward Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
